PTA AGM
There was a great turnout a the PTA AGM last Tuesday. A report on the night will follow in the next week and we look forward to working with the new committee and Niamh Brennan, the new chairperson over the coming year. There were lots of ideas for events and the PTA calendar of events will kick off with the Halloween disco. More details of this in the coming week. Lesley Fahy was elected as the parent representative on the Board of Management and we would like to thank Nicola Kuss for all her work on the Board for the last two years.
Sponsored Walk
Many thanks to all the families who collected and took part in our sponsored walk. We raised over €2200 and this will go towards readers and sports equipment. It was a really enjoyable event and makes us appreciate the lovely parks we have in our area.
Clonburris SDZ
I am going to be preparing a submission to go from the school on the Clonburris masterplan in the next few weeks. Our submission will be based on the needs of the school and if you have any ideas or comments please do not hesitate to mail me at principal@lucaneastet.ie. We will also be working with the classes in the school for their ideas. Our student council is currently being elected and I hope that they will work on this a lot this year. You can access the masterplan and how it effects your area at clonburris.ie
Democracy in action
This week we are electing a new student council and this morning we had a great introduction from all the candidates. We talked about what it meant to be a good representative and what our common goal was which is to make the school a better place. We also are celebrating the One day Together Day which celebrates The 90 Educate Together schools we have in the country. Educate Together is the patron body for five primary schools in Lucan and promotes equality based education where no child is an outsider. The first Educate Together school was established in 1977 and the organisation has gone from strength in the last decade.
Sports
Well done to all our GAA teams who represented our school so well during the week. I had the pleasure of going with the Senior Boys team to Drimnagh and was really impressed by their sportsmanship, team spirit and commitment. There is also swimming going on for our outreach classes and Rang 2. We have Tag Rugby coaching and Gerry from Athletics Ireland is doing great work with the older classes who are also doing the Marathon challenge which is proving to be a great success.
Enrolment
Enrolment Forms for Junior Infants for 2018/2019 are available in the office and can be dropped back to any of the four Lucan Common Enrolment Schools every Wednesday
Bíodh Deireadh Seachtain deas agat (Have a lovely weekend)
