Its Friday again and I have just finished the two school assemblies we host every week to recognise the great work of all the children in the school. Today we were looking at Christianity and the main points of that religion. We were also looking at how we could make life better for our mams and dads. We also spoke about putting ourselves in the shoes of other people and to see where they are coming from. Lots of boys and girls were awarded with star of the week or Gaeilgeoir na Seachtaine (Irish speaker of the week). We keep a photo record of all our stars of the week which we are keeping as evidence of the great achievements of all the children in the school.
Below are some notes that parents might need to take note of:
- Car parking at infant collection time has improved. There are only two year groups being collected at this time compared with six at the senior collection time so there is more than enough room for everybody. Our senior collection time is working well also. I would like to thank all the families who are walking to and from school. It is great to see and they are always the happier faces on the journey home than those stuck in traffic.
- The closing date for the junior infant enrolment offers is next Thursday 29th of January. We will then proceeed to the second round of offers. It is really important that all enrolment offers are returned so that the place is guaranteed.
- Sixth and fifth class will be taking part in the Peace Proms next weekend January 31st and will be receiving a note about this. The concert will take place in the RDS Dublin 4 and buses will take the children to and from the venue. This is one of the most popular events in school every year.
- Our new jerseys for our GAA teams are in the post and I will get some children to model them on the site next week.
- 5th and 6th class girls have been taking part in the soccer sisters initiative with the FAI which encourages girls specifically to take part in soccer.
- We are hopefully going to introduce a parents portal on our data base system which will mean that parents will be able to access their child’s attendance, school report and manage details like changes of address through a secure password.
- Many thanks to all parents who are taking part in the range of classes being organised by Gemma. Keep updated with all parents classes on the website.
- Remember that good attendance equals success in school. It really is as simple as that and something I can vouch for in my career in teaching. I have seen the educational achievement of children soar when their attendance improves. We are lucky to have great attendance in this school and we always work with any family who is having trouble in this area to improve.
Have a great weekend,
Le Meas,
Eddie
